Augustino’s is a family-owned business with a 30 year history in the Chicagoland area. We began as a small grocery store in DuPage County, selling the usual market items and a few Italian specialties. However, the magic happened in the back where Aug himself along with his son, Jerry, made sandwiches for shift workers on their way to and from the job. Soon, Augie’s grew to be known as the place to get a great sandwich at a great price.

As Aug says, “When we started selling more sandwiches then cigarettes, we knew we were on to something.”

It was right about then that we moved into our very own building on the corner of St. Charles and Schmale roads in Carol Stream. Today you can still find us at our original location, as well as in West Chicago on the corner of Routes 59 and 64!

But no matter which location you go to, you can be sure our commitment to quality and our commitment to our customers are our first priority! With generations of family working together each day and generations of fans, (plus hundreds of sandwiches created just the way our customers like them to prove it!) Augustino’s is still a great place for great food at a great price.

Phyills, or Ma as everyone calls her, has been bringing her special touches to Augustino’s Catering for almost 30 years.

Our Italian beef, meatballs, marinara sauce (or gravy as Ma calls it) are all made using her family recipes and time tested methods.

“From our family to yours,” is the motto of Augustino’s Catering for good reason - because Ma wouldn’t have it any other way!

WHY A ROCK AND ROLL DELI?

While serving in the Korean War, one of Aug’s jobs was to book musical acts for USO shows. He made arrangements for transportation and took care of the many details for these important spirit boosters.

When entertainment for the troops was scarce Aug pulled together some of the guys to form small bands. Augie often performing himself by playing his trumpet.

In the beginning, Augie’s personal memorabilia adorned the early walls of Augie’s with tons of stuff being added from customers and friends of Augustino’s.

Now, over a quarter of a century later, Carol Stream has walls lined with fun memorabilia and our West Chicago Augie’s boasts museum quality memorabilia!
